What is BromAid?

This section contains the principles and procedures common to the following participating companies which collaborate in dealing with bromine emergencies on a European basis.

Albemarle Europe SPRL

ICL- Industrial Products
Broomchemie B.V.

Chemtura Corporation

This section outlines the arrangements for dealing with actual and potential leaks or spills of bromine, owned or manufactured by these companies. It describes the emergency service that the companies provide for incidents at bromine recipients' premises and in road, rail or water transport and the agreed arrangements for making their specialised services available for any incident where such services can provide the quickest help.

These procedures are intended to be complementary to particular national and international chemical industry schemes.  The umbrella organisation for such schemes within Europe is the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) with National ICE (International Chemical Environment) schemes being established for the majority of European countries.

These arrangements serve to supplement the steps taken by the individual companies to ensure that suitable arrangements are made, not only for the safe movement of hazardous goods but also for minimising the damage or injury which could arise should an incident occur in any stage of distribution.
